Finding Centre

Friday 15th September to Sunday 17th September 2023

A weekend retreat to explore the nervous system through yoga, meditation and breathwork with Anna Powell, yoga teacher and Neuroscientist

The nervous system is the means by which our body responds to and makes sense of the world. It stores past experiences and uses them to make decisions about how to respond to current situations. Whilst a certain amount of challenge is essential for us to thrive and grow, in the modern world many of us experience chronic levels of stress which impact our whole system and affect our resilience.

Understanding the nervous system and learning skills to upregulate and downregulate your own system can be both fascinating and empowering. We will explore embodied practices for cultivating self-awareness and self-regulation through yoga, breathwork and meditation and learn how these tools can help us to understand and navigate our experience.

Hazel is a Chiropractor, who has been working with patients over the past 15 years to help alleviate stress as it is manifested physically in the body. During this time Hazel has also completed over 600 hours of additional training as a yoga teacher and embodied breathwork instructor.

Anna has a PhD in neuroscience, over 500 hours of yoga teacher training and is currently studying to become an integrative counsellor.  Her spiritual enquiries and scientific training weave together in her practice and teaching, giving contrasting frames of reference and complimentary ways to explore what it means to be human.

The retreat is set in Embercombe, a beautiful retreat space nestled in a 50-acre valley of outstanding natural beauty in rural Devon. This weekend is for everyone, delivered in an informal, welcoming manner to make the practices accessible and fun.

Included in the weekend:
>Morning guided meditation
>Morning kriyas (cleansing breath practices)

>Breathwork techniques to upregulate and downregulate the system
>Embodied flow yoga to energise the system

>Restorative and yin yoga to relax the system
> Yoga nidra (yogic sleep)
>Workshop on understanding the nervous system
>Fire pit and fire ritual ceremony
>Nature walk in the forest
>Delicious vegan food created by the in-house chef
>Two nights’ accommodation in the beautiful Embercombe retreat space

Please note there is much on offer, but you can choose to do as little or as much as you would like. The weekend is for you to tailor to what you need at that time. The retreat is £375 and we require a £100 deposit to reserve your place with the balance payable by 1st August 2023 (unless we have pre-agreed a payment plan).

If you are facing financial hardship, that is preventing you from attending and would like to discuss payment options then please get in touch. If the retreat is cancelled you will receive a full refund. If you decide you cannot attend after the balance is paid you will only be able to get a refund (minus your deposit) if another student can take your place.
